Co-Founder & Lead Guide
Umut's connection to tourism began in childhood, growing up in a family-run hotel where he first learned the rhythm of hospitality. He later studied Tourism Management and Professional Guiding, and during his university years in Kuşadası he met Yeliz—now his wife, co-founder, and closest collaborator.
For many years, Umut guided travelers across Türkiye and nearly twenty countries in Europe, crafting cultural and experiential journeys shaped by curiosity, storytelling, and deep regional insight. His dedication to meaningful travel eventually earned him recognition as a National Geographic guide, placing him among a select group of specialists known for their cultural expertise.
Following the pandemic, he also served as a tour staff manager for an international travel company, refining his strengths in operations, logistics, and guest experience. English and Spanish have been integral to his guiding career from the beginning, enabling him to connect naturally with travelers from around the world.
Outside of work, Umut's passions—music, cinema, theatre, gastronomy, and history—color the experiences he designs. A football fan and devoted Galatasaray supporter, he loves discovering authentic food spots and weaving them into itineraries. Above all, he cherishes traveling and exploring with Yeliz and their daughter.

Since 2002, Yeliz has built a diverse career across the tourism industry—spanning hotel front office operations, reservations, travel agency logistics, and guest services. After many years working directly with travelers as a professional tour guide in Türkiye, she and her husband Umut founded Local Explore Tours in 2024, transforming her extensive industry experience into a boutique travel company focused on thoughtful, meaningful journeys. She is also a devoted mother, a role that enriches her empathy, patience, and approach to hospitality.
Yeliz brings a refined combination of local insight, logistical mastery, and creative vision to every itinerary the company designs. From tailoring a personalized family trip to coordinating a multi-city experience for international groups, her work is guided by a commitment to authenticity, warm hospitality, and exceptional service. Her calm, accommodating nature and strong organizational skills create an effortless sense of ease for both guests and team members.

Işıl has been an active professional guide since 2003, leading tours across Türkiye, Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia. In recent years, she has focused exclusively on cultural journeys throughout Anatolia, where her deep knowledge truly shines.
With a genuine passion for culture and history, Işıl brings every site to life through engaging, insightful narratives. She is known as a remarkable storyteller, able to turn each destination into an unforgettable experience for travelers. Her expertise has also led her to guide special-interest programs, including National Geographic tours.
Her guiding style blends expertise, warmth, clarity, and a great sense of humour—making her a favorite among guests who appreciate meaningful and enjoyable cultural exploration.

İhsan has been working as a professional tour guide since 2016. His passion for guiding was inspired by his beautiful hometown, Bergama (ancient Pergamon)—a place where breathtaking history meets picturesque landscapes. Growing up surrounded by such a rich cultural heritage naturally led him to become part of the stories he now shares with travelers.
A true nature lover, İhsan enjoys hiking and cycling in his free time. He is also a dedicated foodie who loves discovering local flavors and introducing guests to the culinary traditions of the regions he guides in.
Known for his cheerful personality, engaging storytelling, and strong knowledge base, İhsan is also a National Geographic guide. Every tour with him is more than just a visit—it’s an immersive experience that connects history, nature, and culture in a meaningful and memorable way.

Born in Mersin in 1988, Tahsin has been part of the tourism industry since 2007 and began his professional guiding career in 2014. He is married and a proud father of two.
With a natural love for meeting new people, Tahsin considers guiding not just a job but his true calling. His dedication and expertise have also led him to work on select National Geographic expeditions, adding a distinctive depth to his guiding experience.
He is passionate about sharing Türkiye's rich history and culture with travelers from around the world.
Outside of guiding, he enjoys playing football and going fishing—hobbies that reflect his calm, friendly, and grounded personality.
